Douglas R. Dettman founds Dettman Properties
The property business takes its name. Nearly five decades of managing buildings through good seasons and bad ones follow.
Growth into brokerage and vacation rentals
Dettman Realty Group and Island City Vacation Rentals join the family, deepening the day-to-day work of owning and running property here.
The insurance agency opens
Dettman Insurance Agency LLC is filed in March 2024. The newest arm of the business, built on everything the family already knew about protecting property.
What the family brings to a brand-new agency
When you have managed buildings through hurricanes, you end up with opinions. About roof age. About how deductibles are really structured. About which carriers are still answering the phone after a bad season and which ones went quiet.
That is the difference between an agency that opened in 2024 with no context and this one. The license is new. The judgment is not. We were founded on a simple idea carried across every company in the family: treat every client like family.
